September 2026
Turn of Seasons
What a lovely start to the month it has been! Warm, sunny days and cool, clear nights reflect the impending seasonal change. We watched through the front window with nostalgia as neighborhood students got off the school bus after their first days. As we enjoy these final weeks of summer, we rest easy knowing that the upcoming fall season brings more opportunities to be thankful.
CCC has had many impactful events over the last month. We hosted two Dinner with a Purpose featuring seasonal ingredients from local farms and our own garden beds. As always, we enjoyed inspiring conversation, full hearts, and satisfied bellies.
Last weekend, we held our annual Warrior Challenge. This event brings together runners, walkers, cyclists, and sideline supporters. Through registration fees and raffle ticket purchases, we raise funds to continue our meal service to local warrior families. The day also brings community together to remember and celebrate those warriors who have sadly passed away.

A tremendous thank you to Kennebunk Savings Bank for being our gold sponsor, as well as to Bradbury Brothers Market, Schlegel Realty, and Maine Revolution for their contributions. We also received wonderful raffle prize donations from many local businesses. Thank you all for your support of this annual event!

Funds raised from special community events like these allow us to continue to provide nourishing meals for local warrior families. We can’t cure cancer, but we can cook! In the month of August, we prepared and delivered 428 meals for 20 warrior families.
Some featured meals prepared last month were summer vegetable lasagna with basil tomato sauce accompanied by garden panzanella, which is a traditional Tuscan chopped salad. Chef Jonathan’s version contained cucumber, tomato, zucchini, nasturtium, basil, and mozzarella.

Some Favorite Warrior Feedback
We enjoy getting to know more local, warrior families who are looking for nutritional care and meal delivery. Each has a different cancer journey and all are appreciative of CCC's services. With your support, we are able to make life a little simpler for those navigating a scary, exhausting cancer diagnosis. Here are just a few of our warrior’s reactions:
"These menus are so beautifully made and executed. Thank you for such lovely meals. They all have so much intention!"
"Thank you for the cake bites and note of encouragement. They were both very well loved. That Coq Au Vin was out of this world! I’ve never seen our kids devour something so fast. It’s also the first meal I’ve ever sat at the dinner table and actually enjoyed while on chemo."
"Thank you so much for everything these last 7 months. Life has been easier in so many ways because of you.”
“Please know you are all so appreciated and will never be forgotten."
