July 2026
Summer is here and the gardens are in bloom!
The 4th July weekend brought so many memorable moments! From fireworks, to BBQ's, to new and familiar faces at The Cafe. We happily welcomed the warm weather knowing it will bring about many delicious local ingredients.
Our friends from the West Kennebunk Community Garden and Dempsey Garden provide us with fresh ingredients for our warrior meals, including bright green garlic scapes and Swiss chard.
Fresh herbs, edible flowers, and vegetables for our cancer warrior meals
The CCC garden boxes are also blooming brightly with many herbs and flowers, which are used daily in the café.
Our garden boxes provide fresh bounty almost daily for café meals
Summer brings many reasons to celebrate! The team has already hosted several private events this season. Our 2 Pier Road location serves as a beautiful spot to dine, reconnect, and build community. And remember, all money spent directly supports our mission. We can’t cure cancer, but we can cook!

CCC prepared 382 warrior meals for 16 local families in the month of June. We create a variety of dishes to provide nourishment and interest. Last month’s menu included delicious dishes like carrot soup, chicken stroganoff with zucchini and rice, and rhubarb crisp.
We are receiving new warrior request every week. We have not had to turn down our services to any local families thus far, but we need your help to continue.

Question and Answer
Question: How long do the warrior families receive CCC's meal services?
Answer: The timeframe for meal service is as unique as each family. Once the warrior information has been gathered (cancer journey, food likes/dislikes, medical food aversions, typical daily nutritional intake, etc.), families are able to begin receiving our services. A 4 to 5 week check-in is performed to ensure that the meals received are correct portions, desired taste, and are able to be consumed. If all is well and no adjustments need to be made, then we continue with the delivery schedule.
Our meals service continues until the warrior is in remission, that they feel they are able to return to their own meal production, or they lose their battle. If our warriors pass, then our services can continue for another three months, as we understand the devastating journey that lies ahead for the family.
